    Hi butterlove...

You sound as if this isn't a Doctor you frequent and therefore, you don't have much trust there.

The Birth control pill definately assists with menstral flow, reducing it lighter and therefore, also lightening the cramps in most cases with women.

Make sure you put the packet somewhere where you see it everyday, so you don't forget a pill..

The sugar pills, gives your body a break whilst you have your normal period.

Sometimes it takes a couple of months for your body to get used to them, regarding timing of your periods.

I don't know of many people that have a problem other than perhaps cramps are still bad and therefore, they change over the birth control pill to something stronger, advised by their Doctors.

    Give it a go.

I've suffered with heavy bleeding and cramping since my periods began at age 12. I've tried multiple birth control pills as well as Mirena. Two years ago, my doctor prescribed Loestrin 24 Fe for me and it's the best pill I've been on. For the first year, I took the pill normally - taking all the active pills and then the placebos. My periods still were not as light as I would've liked and I had problems with cramps. When I went in for my yearly checkup, my doctor recommended that I skip over the placebos every month and go straight to a new pack. I've been doing this for a year and I've had no periods, no cramping, and no breakthrough bleeding at all. Some women may feel uncomfortable not having a period at all, but I'm fine with it.

ETA: The period you have while taking your birth control pill isn't a normal period at all. You're not ovulating so the lining of your uterus doesn't thicken, so there's nothing that your body needs to shed. The bleeding is just your body's reaction to having the hormones stopped for those days that you take the placebos. You can google "pill period" or ask your doctor about it, too.

Different pills react to different women, differently. I've been on Loestrin 24 FE for 3 months, and just started a new pill last night. Bleeding was definitely not a problem for me on Loestrin, as I only have 1 actual period the whole 3 months. I had great energy level, etc. However, I totally, 100% lost my libido. I have also experienced other emotional/mental problems that I can only attribute to the pill. I am like a live nerve, everything annoys me to the point that literally the way my bf sits in a chair might get on my nerves. I'm totally unaffectionate and really don't want to be touched, kissed etc. It's very strange, and I can say that I was not this way at all prior to Loestrin. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this new one helps me out and helps me get rid of this emotional weight I've been carrying around.

I know others on this pill that have not had this issue, so perhaps you won't either. I hope it works for ya!
