Question Please help!

Hi all...I am new here

I hope I am not inconveniencing any of you, but I am very concerned....

I got my Copper T380A IUD inserted Wednesday Nov 11th (had minor cramping but not bad enough to take any pain meds, little spotting here and there but wore panty liner)-heard all this was normal

Thursday Nov 12th my period started midnight (no cramping, regualr flow and lasted same 5 days as before IUD & wore non-scented tampons)

Wednesday Nov 18th (spotting throughout the day & wore panty liner)-heard this was normal

Thursday Nov 19th (some clear discharge throughout day-nothing heavy)-heard this was normal

Friday Nov 20th (nothing)

Sat Nov 21, Sun Nov 22, Mon Nov 23-sex with no condom (wrapped a clean towel around my finger and swirled it inside my vagina to clean myself out & also baby wiped each time)

Tuesday Nov 24th-BAD odor (like strong urine and sweat) and some discharge

Wednesday Nov 25th-BAD odor & discharge (yellow tint when wiping & dried up dark yellow like pee)-Filled bath tub with water and 1 cup of Apple Cider Vinegar & soaked for 30 minutes. Washed good with Vanilla Oatmeal Baby Wash (have used b4 IUD and always been fine with no irritation) then put powder (pure cornstarch kind) in panties and went to sleep.

Today Thursday Nov 26th Thanksgiving-woke up with one small wet spot at the top of my panties-was little bit of pinkish brown when wiping so put in panty liner and some more powder. Checked 3pm and Im now bleeding? The smell isnt as bad and no more discharge, but am I ok to bleed?

Ive been doing some massive research to understand it all (about 4 hours on the computer) and I believe it is Bacterial Vaginosis as I have the smell and discharge symptoms and also a cause of the infection is sometimes an IUD. I am going to get checked Friday Dec 4th but I cant take this smell for that long, so I have looked up some home remedies. I have found Gralic to Apple Cider Vinegar to Tea Tree Oil to Plain Yogurt inserted into vagina to Hydrogen Peroxide to Folic Acid and Lactobacillus Acidophilus vitamins. Im just wondering what would be the safest most effective way to get rid of this infection and have it stay gone? Yes, I know everyone wants us to go to doctor and get antibiotics but heard most of the time this infection comes back even after dealing with the side effects of the oral antibiotics, so I am really trying to do this on my own the old natural way. I know it is not healthy to douche but is that said because of the harmful effects of the ones sold in stores or is bad to do it all together no matter what you use even if it is herbal?

I have been with my husband for 4 1/2 years and we have used condoms the whole time to prevent pregnancy. We both got together when I was 15 and he was 19 (both virgins) and been with only each other since. Do you think this infection is because my body is not used to him "releasing" inside me? I have been checked and tested for everything under the moon before the IUD was inserted and everything came out very normal and thats why they went on with the procedure.

I just really hope my IUD does not have to be taken out since there is no other problems I am having with it or horomones to deal with, but please what should I do?

Of course my gynecologist is not open today so do you think I will be ok to wait till morning and talk to them or should I seek immediate attention?

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR INPUT

Firstly douching is discouraged because it changes the ph balance of your vagina. And unless there is an infection or whatever, douching on a regular day is just completely unnecessary. That part of the body is extremely clean. Washing the outer part is a good idea, of course, though. From your post it seems to me that you douche a lot... is it just because you think you have an infection?

It's easier to get an infection with an IUD because the cervix is not as protected, considering there are now strings coming out of it. Make sure your husband is all nice and clean down there before sex and it shouldn't be a consistent problem or anything like that, don't worry. I also don't think you'll have to get the IUD removed.

All that spotting you mentioned is completely normal and sometimes takes MONTHS to completely normalize, so don't worry about that either. I know you said you searched a lot of info about IUDs on the net - try not to read too many forums on this subject, because it seems that only people with PROBLEMS with this thing ever post.

Get to a doc as soon as you can, of course try your home remedies in the meantime... But those shouldn't be your primary source of care, at least not the first time around when you're not quite sure what's going on in the first place.

I have never douched and dont plan too the way it messes up your vaginas natural ph and bacteria, but when reading that the Hydrogen Peroxide actually worked..I was considering it...

Do you think it would hurt me if I do not have an infection?

Well, as for hurting you, I really don't know, you might have to do some more research online before trying.

What do you mean, is what okay even if you are spotting?

When I researched IUDs, I never heard anyone complain about CONSISTENT infections. It really shouldn't happen if both of you are sanitary...! Really, don't worry about it, this really is not a big deal. I think it's very unlikely that YOUR body is going to be so much more prone to infection than countless other people's.

Why would you put a towel into your vagina? It will clean itself- that sounds very irritating. You could be developing a sensitivity to the corn starch. You really don't need that stuff. Do you wear cotton undies? Avoid tight crotches?

I had an IUD for several years with no trouble.

DO you have any burning or itching? This does sound like you could have a little infection and may not be related to the IUD at all.

The towel is for cleaning the "cum" out! I dont like the wet feeling of it making a mess at my opening. I have always used the towel method before and have been fine (when cleaning condom lube out). I just now started the corn starch powder after realizing I had a problem so it is not that either. I also dont wear panties so thats not it. No burning or itching, but feel little red. My husbands mother has had 2 IUDs in so 20 years total with no problems at all, so thats why I did it also. Im a little better today I think. Just getting a wet spot here and there and do not smell myself (odor) like I did before. No more bleeding neither.

I wonder if since my body has just now been exposed to "cum", maybe its just taking some time to get used too????
