    Default missed period on Nuvaring

I had a Mirena IUD for the full 5 years. I had it removed Oct 30, 2009. This same day, I started using NuvaRing. During the 1st week, my husband and I didn't use a 2nd method of birth control as suggested by my dr. There were also a few instances where I had the ring out for about 5 hours. My question and worry I guess, is that on the 3rd week, when I removed my ring to have a period...nothing happened. No period, no spotting. The entire duration of the my Mirena IUD I did not menstrate as well. I took a pregnancy test, it was negative. Is this normal? For me to miss a period but not be pregnant? Should I hold off on using a new ring? Thanks for any help.

    jenflores...

You can only pose your question in one section.

    I recall answering this thread...

Tempting fate is never a good idea, your Doctor advised you to use a second method of birth control when changing over from IUD to NuvaRing and you didn't... And, you chose to not have it in as well.

Certainly you can be pregnant but certainly you can also miss a period whilst your body gets used to something foreign and new.

    Please don't tempt fate.

I would continue as the Doctor instructed you to from October 30th and see how you go over the next month.

    Best wishes.
