Thread: New to the pill, having issues.

Okay, so, I am 21 years old and have just started taking the pill 2 weeks ago. I am on Yaz and took my fist pink pill on the first day of my period. After that my period was hardly noticeable, but existed, for the first week of the pill. Now during the second week, I am bleeding. I don't have any of the typical menstrual symptoms such as bloating, breakouts, cramping. (there is some cramping but it is relatively minor, not painful enough even to take an Aleve or Tylenol for). The pill I am on is Yaz, for the purpose of a contraceptive but also to help regulate my periods, because I only get 1 period every two to three months, which I think is mostly stress-related.

I'm not a big fan of medication. It scares me to put foreign chemicals and substances in my body. I don't even like taking Tylenol, but will do it once and a while when absolutely necessary. I felt reassured in the beginning that the benefits would outweigh the risks, but the moment my body began to react in a way that I'm unfamiliar with, all that went out the window.

Anyway, my question is, is this a normal effect of beginning Yaz, to bleed for this long? Is it dangerous to be bleeding like this? Do I need to call my doctor? I'm getting really upset and scared. It's even bringing me to tears as silly as it may be.

Please help.

My wife had issues when she went back on the pill. Her periods were all over the road, it takes time to adjust. HOWEVER, you should at least call your doctor and ask, better safe than sorry. If you do a search on "Birthcontrol", many links will appear. Yaz is mentioned specifically.
