I believe that's common with Loestrin. It can make your periods lighter and shorter. If you're not comfortable with it making your period disappear completely, you can talk to your doctor about possibly switching you to another pill.
I just went off Loestrin after taking it for 2 years. My second year on it, I took the pills (on my doctor's advice) without taking the placebos. From the very first time skipping the placebos, I never spotted, cramped or had any breakthrough bleeding.

I've really liked this pill so far as it has made my periods lighter and shorter. I also have completely skipped the placebo pills a couple times and haven't had any break through bleeding. It also seems to make the next month extra light.
