    Before or after intercourse?

Birth Control pills are there to protect you from pregnancy.

You should commence the pills, (here in Australia), On the 6th day of your periods, and not have sex for a month un-protected.

The pills should have 7 days "sugar pills" that you take whilst on your periods......

Other than that if your talking about the "Morning After Pill" due to having un-protected sex, then you take that as soon as you can get your hands on it, the very next day.

Unless like the previous post mentioned you are talking about the morning after pill you take the pill every day at the same time. The time is irrelevent so long as it's the same time. When you have sex is irrelevent. You can start them anytime in your cycle but should use a backup method of birth control for the first month especially if you don't start it during or right after your period since you may have already ovulated for that month. Changing the time you take the pill or missing any could allow you to get pregnant and you should refer to the directions with the pill pack or call your doctor.

If you are talking about the morning after pill you shouldn't be planning for this. It's not a method of birth control. It's an emergency in case an accident happens like a broken condom or you do something stupid while drunk. Situations like that. It's hard on your body. You will likely feel sick and may start bleeding. Not something you want to plan to take. It only works within 48hours after you have sex and the sooner the better.
