Question Side Effects from Birth Control

When I was 15 I started to take BC pills and the brand that was given to me at that time was Alesse. During the time when I was on Alesse I had problems with my skin down below. Taking the BC pills made my skin thin out and it caused my skin to get fissures which was extremely painful. I went to the Gyno because that really bothered me, she ran tests but nothing was wrong. All she said was to use Lanacane whenever they appeared. So they appeared when I had sex or even if I used rougher tp and it was so uncomfortable and painful. I stopped taking BC when I turned 18 because I didn't have any health insurance. After I stopped taking them, I have never had another fissure again and I was so happy. Now last year I was put on Mircette (generic name - Kariva) to shrink some cysts I had. I got a couple fissures during that time but only when I had sex. The two other side effects I had when on Mircette was crazy mood swings and extremely sore breasts. I was only on Mircette temporarily. Now I am not taking any BC pills and I am back to normal. No sore breasts and no fissures. So I will say I will never be taking BC pills ever again because I get some crazy sides effects and I really don't want to go through that much pain when I really don't need to.

Does anyone else get crazy side effects from BC like I do?

Yeah I had severe hair loss when I was on the pill.

Have you considered a copper (non hormonal) IUD? I have that now and couldn't be happier.

Those are good however if you have not had children your doctor/gyn may be hesitant to let you have an IUD. You may be better off trying another brand of BC?

Default be very careful with BC

I've had nothing but bad experiences when I was on birth control first I was on the pill It gave me very bad cramps and I did not like how it made me feel so my gyno doctor switched me to depo provera that is what ruined my whole life the depo shot it has made my periods turn black and gain rapid weight I got stretch marks I have been on the shot for 2 years when I was 16 going on 17 it has totally messed up my repoductive system and now the doctors tell me I should have never taken birth control so I went back to my gyno doctor and she said maybe the patch will help she put me on the patch and the patch irritated my skin to the point of turning deep dark red I removed it because she said if I start itching to not put it on anymore

I am now 19 years old going on 20 and it took my body nearly 3 years to get back to normal I had to wait 18 months to 3 years for the birth control to wear off and get normal periods now that I have normal periods my body is not in god health so I would not advise you take another form of birth control because it could also give you cancer and have a bad impact on your life I don't even feel normal still and it has made my periods very irregular not regular so before you consider birth control I advise doctors really make sure that your body is able to take to the medicine before just giving it to a person they gave my sister mirana but that's after she had 5 kids and they warned her because she has so many std's they did not think it was safe for her to have more kids I wish you luck but I really hope you do not take any form or birth control ever again because you could end up like me it has made my life worse and everything just changes when you take birth control please think about it before you take it this is my personal experience with it and it has been nothing but bad

After I get married which is this summer my fiance and I are going to start a family so I probably won't ever take another BC again.

I would suggest that if you've come off the BC and your periods don't return to normal, you could try chasteberry. I used it after stopping the pill because my periods were nasty and I had breakthrough bleeding....but it makes hormonal BC less effective, so don't use it if you're trying to prevent getting pregnant

The popular birth control Yaz has been linked to several serious side effects, including blood clots, heart attacks, strokes and gallbladder disease. Bayer hasn't warned women about these side effects, and was cited by the FDA for a misleading Yaz ad campaign (the company had to run corrective ads, which you may have seen.*EDIT*
