    Default NuvaRing and Dry Heaves

I hate the NuvaRing. Within a couple days of putting it in I would have slight dry heaves which eventually went away. Then the migranes came. I've never gotten migranes before, and I have 5! 1 almost every day. Finally those stopped and I got my period.

The doctor told me the second time would be better, and it was until about the 3rd week now I'm getting really bad dry heaves but I stuck it out and wore the ring 4 weeks and took it out yesterday. I didn't mean to wear it so long, I just forgot.

What I really want to know is has anyone else had symptoms like this on the Ring? I've felt like these past couple of days, really tired, bad acne. I just want the stuff out of my system. I don't think I'm pregnant, I was a long time ago and I had way more symptoms, (vomiting, dry Heaves, sore breasts, sore nipples) that didn't show up until I was at least 7 weeks in. I'm afraid to go back on birth control again, the pill made me have such bad acne.

When I got my first period I got it within an hour of taking the ring out, and I passed clots like crazy, thats never happened before. Now I took it out and its been 2 days and no period.

Those are odd reactions. The heaves I'd question being something else but it definitely sounds like your body doesn't like the hormones in the nuva ring. There are many different hormones out there in all the different forms of birth control. So far I can only use 2. It can take some experimenting to find one that works. I did learn not to just keep taking something for months if it really causes problems. Sure the side effects might become less but if it starts off really bad the odds are it will always be noticeable. If it's a minor side effect or something like nausea then I'd keep trying but otherwise I'd switch.

Do you have other respiratory problems or have you talked to a doctor about being tested for asthma and reactive airways? Even if it is the birth control causing it that is such an odd symptoms I'd bet you have an underlying condition. It just may not cause symptoms until something irritates your body. I've had one asthma attack and I only have symptoms in a handful of conditions like running around in cold weather or certain molds but it's enough that I know to be careful what meds I take. Some over the counter supplements have given me a dry cough and I turn down any med known to cause respiratory problems.
