when I was your age I used only my BC pill if I was in a committed relationship.
Sorry, I didn't know how to title this correctly. You definitely do not have to answer my question because I know it maybe personal. I'm curious though, those of you who are in committed long term relationships or married and on some sort or prescription birth control (IUD, shot, pills, nuvaring, etc) do you use condoms as well or do you just rely on your prescribed form of birth control?
The reason I got put on birth control was because I've been in a relationship for almost 3 years (we now live together) and felt that I wanted more intimacy without having to worry about getting pregnant. I know there is no full proof method (besides abstinence), and adding condoms to the equation would probably be better. However, I'm nearing my mid twenties and I can't imagine women my age or older with similar relationship statuses and on prescribed birth control always using condoms as well. Am I right to assume this or am I being totally irresponsible?
I hope this made sense...
when I was your age I used only my BC pill if I was in a committed relationship.

I'm on the pill and we use condoms...we're both 23. We are going to start using spermicide instead of condoms in combination with the pill...can't be too safe, right?
i just use the pill. you take a chance with anything you use so it really makes no diference in my eyes![]()

When I was on the pill, it was just the pill, never used anything else like condoms or spermicides.

I've relied on only the pill a few times now. I was living with a guy for 2years right after I got out of highschool so 18-20 and neither of us had been with anyone else. I only used yasmin that whole time. Then I went through a few boyfriends using condoms while staying on yasmin except for 1 year when I lost my insurance and couldn't get pills. I started a serious long term relationship with someone about a year ago at 24years old. We used just condoms for awhile then tried an IUD, had horrible results, tried some other pills, had horrible results, went back on yasmin for 2 months to clear it all up, and now I'm using nuvarings. I didn't use condoms from the time the IUD was placed since we were serious enough we got married a few months later. Before we stopped using condoms we had a discussion on STDs, when we'd last been tested, and previous partners plus what birth control was used with them. A week ago he had a vasectomy so never an issue again soon.
My current boyfriend is my 1st where we don't use condoms- been together 5 years. Maybe used condoms 6 times, and it was all in the 1st few months of being together.
I've been married for 14 years and have been on the pill for 18 years. I've only been with one man, the same man for 18 years.![]()
We don't use anything else other than - he withdraws prior to ejaculation.
That seems to work, as I've never been pregnant!
We were never that worried about getting pregnant. If it happened...it happened and we'd still have a wonderful life & family together.
So I guess it depends on how careful you really wanna be and the situation you're in.
