Unhappy The Pill Ruined My Life

I went on the pill Mycrogynon 30 at the begining of 06 for iregular, heavy and painful periods, little did I know of the ordeal that awaited me. After I started taking it I got some spotting which I was told was normal in the first few months of taking the pill, but this was leased of my worries. After about 2 weeks I started to get terrible headaches and a constant nagging pain in the front of my head, something I never had before the pill even pre and post period, then I started to get body aches all over and I would break out into cold sweats at any given time, I felt like there was acid burning my throat and I had terrible insomnia and would not sleep for days on end. I also suffered awful emotional difficulties, I would feel numb and even if I wanted to cry I could not, my short term memory was effected and I would often forget the most simple things and my moods were very irratic, one minute I would be elated and jumping for joy, and the next I would go back into my numb state. I stopped taking the pill about a year ago as it was not until the damage was done that I thought it might be the pill that was doing all this to me. Now I have stopped taking it my periods are all over the place, I now have servere PMS which effects my whole life as my whole life has to run around it. To make matters worse the symptoms resemble the pill's side effects with added extras like dizzy spells, weakness and headaches which is made worse by any amount of physical activity. I also have simlar emotional symptoms as well, like irratic moods, crying spells, ect. The doctors say anything is possible after stopping the pill, and to be quite honest I do not trust doctors when it comes to this as they are to quick to make assumptions about one's mental state, almost like periods and hormones have nothing to do with a woman's health. I certainly would never touch the pill again nor would I advocate it as a treatment for menstrual problems, no matter how hard they push it at me. I would really apreciate to hear from anyone else who has had a simlar experience or has suffered in the same way.

Lightbulb I know what you are going through

It sounds as if you had issues before the pill. I have severe PMS, my life revoles around it. I have also experienced all the same symptoms that you have mentioned. But could it be that the pills had just heightened an existing problem for you? I have tried pills, patches, depo shots, you name it I have tried it. ( Be careful with the depo shot cause once you get it there is no antidote for it if you have a reaction to it.) My Dr. has ruled out any form of hormonal birth control in my case as the symptoms increase for me. Try talking to your Dr. about PMDD or Endometriosis. I really sympathize with you. Also natural remedies for your symptoms as well. It really does help. Hope you find the help you need.

    Default Try Acupuncture

Acupuncture/Chinese herbs can regulate your hormones and totally eliminate PMS for good!!!
It's worked for me, and you probably need to do it now that the pill has totally screwed up your hormone patterns.

Default Thanks for your replys :)

It is next to impossible for me to go to my GP with these issues, as since I moved to a new area to live with my boyfriend, my new doctor and in fact the whole surgery is more like a drug pushing cattle market than a place to go for help and understanding. If I was to go here and discuss my hormonal issues that would probably tell me I "needed" to go back on the pill, or that I have skitzophrenia or some other mental health problem which I do not. As far as I am concerned all doctors do is push the pills because the big drug companies tell them to, all to make money, not help people.
