i'm getting married in april and my nasty aunt flo is scheduled to appear 2 days before. seeing as my new husband and i will not tolerate having her on our honeymoon with us, i talked to my ob/gyn today to see what we could do.

the doc says to shorten my next 2 cycles by skipping the last 3 active pills of this pack and the next, starting the placebo pills 3 days earlier and thus shortening my cycle, and have my period come a week before the wedding which sounds purrrrrfect.

has anyone else adjusted their cycle in this way?

we're not having intercourse until after we're married so we're not concerned with being unprotected during this time.

this is my first time on the pill, so my other question is does the period come after i finish the blanks? and if so how soon after i start the new pack will aunt flo arrive?

i'm on ortho-tri-cyclen-lo a triphasic birth control pill.

    Congratulations

Triphasil is probably the same thing, which I was always on. Your Doctor has given you correct advice.

The alternative is not to take the sugar pill and start again with the new month's pill but that will give you "pain" trust me as your body is trying to adjust and work out what the heck you just did.

I've never been on this type of pill, but the general theory is the same either way, so yes that would be the sensible thing to do. As long as you've done it a month or two before the honeymoon and wedding, then you'll be ok.

    Congratulations on the wedding!
