Hi, I'm new and having some very weird for me things. I decided to try to get a Mirena IUD because my pills were making me insane. (Literally, I was suicidal 3 weeks out of the month and worse if I took the pills continuously, then poof, all happy with life again the week I was off the pills.) Anyway, my insertion was set up for Feb. 6th, which was supposed to be the first day of my withdrawal bleeding/period. Nope, nothing, and the nurse practioner at Planned Parenthood could *not* get my internal cervical os open one bit, so no insertion. Haven't bled at all yet. I haven't gone back on the pills, I did try the NuvaRing, which I absolutely hated and couldn't stand for more than 2 hours - horrible irritation at the site, nausea, cramping... it was inserted perfectly and I could feel it pushing (I'm tiny). I was in tears after 2 hours, so took it out.

Background - I'm 29, had endometriosis for 15 years and fibromyalgia for almost 5 years (thanks to 11 months of Lupron for the endo). The NP said that my internal os could very well be scarred mostly closed, but that was just her theory for why she couldn't insert the IUD. At first, she told me I could wait until I was bleeding or use Cytotec to help with dilation, but after she proposed her theory, she basically refused me those options. I want my Mirena! I have to be on hormonal BC, because of my endo, but I'm extremely sensitive to estrogen now, the mini-pill and its' irregular periods won't help, and I'm scared of bone loss on Depo Provera. (I'm a pharmacy tech, which means I know too many side effects of drugs.)

I now have an appointment at a different PP clinic to try inserting a Mirena again. I'm not pregnant, I've taken several tests over the past month to make sure. I'm not on any hormonal BC right now and it kinda hurts. My preference would be to have laminaria inserted to help soften my cervix, since it doesn't seem like it's going to bleed anytime soon. Prostaglandins help in cervical softening and with mine being such a pain, I can't afford to take ibuprofen beforehand because of the anti-prostaglandin effect. (I do, however, have Vicodin for that, yay!)

Basically... I have no clue what's going on with my body. I've never, ever not had a withdrawal bleed or missed a period in my life, even the last time I went off the pills. My last bleed was Jan. 9th. I have no insurance, so don't even want to think about the implications of my cervix being scarred closed, although I don't think it is. I don't have the option of Cytotec or laminaria for this appointment. I'm a bit freaked out, because I want to know what's going on. Any ideas? :/
