I just started birth control (Im 19) and I am sexually active. I took all 21 of my pills and today i took my first sugar pill. I still have not started my period though. Is it normal to be out of sync with the pack on your first go round?

    It's normal.

In fact I don't recall ever starting my period that first sugar pill day anyway.

Yea I've used the pill, the patch, and the nuvaring before and never started the first sometimes even the 3 day of the sugar pill or not having it on/in. I asked my doctor the same thing and she said to worry if you go the whole week without anything. It doesn't always mean you're pregnant so don't freak out right away. It could just mean your body is adjusting to the hormones.

Don't worry. Before you fret yourself to death, at any point, go out even to the Dollar Store and get a pregnancy test. Never a bad idea to keep an extra one on hand for those moments you just need peace of mind. Don't worry until you have something to worry about my dear.

It's very normal to be irregular when you start the pill. The pill basically tells your body you're pregnant, therefore you don't ovulate because your body thinks it's already preggers. So you may and likely will experience symptoms at times that are very similiar to pregnancy symptoms. You may have to try a few pills before you find one that's right for you.....and then when you find one that's right for you, it may not be right for you after a year or 2 because your body and your natural hormone levels change.

Like Mes T said, I don't recall ever starting on the first day of "period pills" and I was on them for almost 10 years.
