Hi ladies...I hope someone has a similar story as mine. I have a history of heavy and painful periods and about a month ago I went to my OB for severe constant pelvic pain that I was having. I assumed that I have endometriosis and my OB said that even if I did, the first thing to try was birth control. So he put me on Nuvaring. I have been on Nuvaring for about two weeks now and aside from the obvious side effects (cramping, headaches, stomach aches), everything else seemed fine until now. I feel like I am still ovulating. My legs are aching like they usually do during ovulation and I'm bloated and various other stomach upset issues. My question is...I thought NR was supposed to halt ovulation? Can you still feel the symptoms without going through ovulation? Another thing, I do also have an ovarian cyst on my left ovary. I hope someone has a simlar story. If not, then I don't know what is wrong with me.![]()
Everyone feels different when they are ovulating. When you originally posted, you said you had only been on the NR for 2 weeks, so your body is still likely adjusting to everything. Birth control is meant to halt ovulating, that's the whole idea, however I believe that the 'symptoms' can still appear even though your body isn't actually ovulating.
I had an ovarian cyst when I was 15... luckily it was small enough to be treated with meds and I didn't need it to be surgically removed. Coincidentally, I was also quite ill at that time, so I don't quite remember my symptoms of the cyst, other than deep abdominal pain. I thought it was my appendix, since it was on the right side. An ultrasound showed the cyst, and like I said it was treated with medication.
.:. if nothing changed, we wouldn't have butterflies.:.
