Well here's an update for those interested.
Had an appt. on the 4th. But when I woke up, with a terrible headache so I told them I would reschedule. Well, what would ya know, that day I finally stopped bleeding. I thought wow, maybe this is gonna work!!! But 4 days later the bleeding started again. And this isn't like normal period blood, it seriously looks just bright red as from a cut. So I sched. an appt for the 18th. I go in and the dr. tells me "well this could not even be from the IUD it could be hormonal or someting else" but I told him I still wanted it out. (Other than CONSTANT bleeding and cramps that would buckle me over!) So they took it out, didnt hurt that bad at all.
I stopped bleeding, no cramps nothing!
So then this guy proceeds to ask what I'm going to use for BC. I told him I wasnt sure. And he prescribed me the mini-pill bc my high blood pressure "shoundn't cause a problem". I was actually pissed. Im done with this guy. I went in over a year ago asking for the pill or anything, and he told me I couldnt and basically get the IUD. Yea, an EXPENSIVE iud which he charges over $200 just to put in. UGH.
So I probably wont be taking the mini pill either because I dont want the hormones and all that.
I just got my paragard inserted this tuesday. I took the recommended 600 mg of ibuprofen about 45 mins beforehand. Insertion felt like a regular pap smear. There was no pain. I am thrilled over this as I have read many stories on painful insertion. The nurse practioner did dilate my cervix, so maybe that helped with the pain factor? I have had no cramping and we will see as far as spotting and heavy periods go. Anyway, just adding my experience because it was great! And the best thing is knowing I have highly effective non hormonal birth control for the next 10+ years
