i am curious as to who has similar side effects to what i've been through since coming off the NuvaRing.
I was put on the NR in November of 2006 and just went off it in November 2009. I had a complication free pregnancy with my daughter who was born in October 2006 and am currently pregnant. Since going to my OB for this pregnancy my paps have come back abnormal with hpv present and polyps on my cervix.(have only had one partner for the past 10 years) I never had an abnormal pap or any of these other symptoms with any other previous pap. I also have a weakened cervix which causes me to have intermittent bleeding and bleeding whenever my cervix is touched, such as intercourse, vaginal exams, and paps. My weakened cervix is also an obvious complication to pregnancy. Also while on the NR i developed gallbladder issues which effected my bowels and was diagnosed with IBS.
My concern is that i'm only 25 years old so what does this mean for my future or future pregnancies... and who else has had similar side effects???
Like I said in the other thread this does not sound like a problem with nuvarings. A nuvaring can't give you hpv. You probably got it from your partner years ago and it just failed to show symptoms until you got older. You may also have the genetics to be prone to such problems if others in your family have similar issues.
Digestive problems can happen with any form of hormonal birth control or other causes of hormonal changes. A good portion of the population also develops lactose intollerance as they get older (some cultures it's near 90%) but it tends to go undiagnosed or misdiagnosed as IBS. Anything that causes prolonged diarhea can cause gallbladder issues. I have such issues right now from taking osmotic laxatives for the past 6months due to digestive tract issues that started after my mirena IUD.
