sorry if i babbled!![]()
Hi ladies,
Im new on here so forgive me if i post the same thread 7 times LOL. I would like some advice/personal experience on the implant.
I had my implant fitted about a year ago and have had none stop problems since. I bleed every two weeks for around 7 days, i have constant headaches (EVERYDAY), my period cramps have become much worse, and i have lost all interest in sex of any kind. I have read the symptoms and i have most of them. I found a website and counted 60 ODD KNOWN SYMPTOMS!!
I have a lot of these and im sure alot of others do too.
My concern is that i beleive my symptoms have gradually gotten worse, for instance at this moment i am sitting here with a splitting headache and a frozen flannel. I was recently admitted to hospital with a pulse rate of 152bpm for no apparent reason and have been told that i most likely have an anxiety disorder. However, after doing my research i have found that all the symptoms i have could be directly because of implanon, i have mentioned this to my gp and she didnt answer me. Have any of you experienced symptoms like mine?i am having my implant out 4th june and havent sooner as i dont want to fall pregnant and cannot take the pill.
Please reply! Thanks

Why didn't your GP answer you? Was it him/her who put it in or recommended it?
Many women have problems with hormonal birth control, and many doctors cover that fact up. Pumping your body up with hormones is bad for you, but only you can decide if it's the lesser of two evils (becoming pregnant or a medical problem for which hormones have been prescribed.) I suggest you get that thing out of your body ASAP and switch to a barrier method of BC (condoms, diaphragm, etc.) Your symptoms are VERY alarming.
There is also a NON-hormonal IUD that you can get, but I don't know the details on it. Let us know how your future appointments go.

Yeah woman! Get that thing out of you!! Best of luck with the appointment. I have had trouble with the implanon too but not so much that I've had to get it taken out... But yeah the IUD sounds like a good option. There's not many side effects except for cramping that I know of, and the cramping doesn't last for more than a couple of weeks.

My GP really doesnt take me seriouslyMy GP didnt put this in i went to sexual health clinic which is upstairs, but they say they cannot take it out even though they put it in!

I was considering the sponge but am not sure i like the failiure rates...
I have heard of a non hormonal iud but thought it was a coil? How does it work? might have to have a look at that
Thankyou!
Let your GP know that s/he is a piece of poo and you're finding another doctor. Remind him/her that s/he is offering a SERVICE and getting PAID for it, and if you don't like it you'll go elsewhere ... and then do it. It's not very hard to find a new doctor, just inconveniencing. Google your area or call around. Let them know you want that thing out of your body or else you'll be sterilizing a box cutter and doing it yourself.
(Okay, so I'm being kind of silly here, but bad doctors are a pet peeve of mine. If it's messing up my body and it's not necessary to me continuing to live and breathe - Get it out now!)

yeah i have thought about changing doctors but the one im at now is very clean and has practices in place. Whereas where me and my partner live the surgeries around here dont look very well... anything to be honest.

I have had the implant in for 2 months now and i know what you are going throughi have had constant headaches, constant period pains, constant bleeding ( even tho they put me on the pill to stop it), my sex drive is non existent, my bp as gone from normally 120/78 to 138/85 (which is not overly high but high for me) my emotions are so hard to control recently, one min i am up and the next i am so down i just cry. My gp is useless too but hoping to convince her to take it out very soon. This is my second implant, the last one i had on for 9 months and refused to leave the gps office until i have a date to have it out. the only reason i had another one put in was because i really dont want anymore kids and i have tried the pill, injection, coil and now the implant again and all have caused problems
I hope you get sorted out very soon
Take care
Jenny
hiya jenny
The constant headaches drive me crazyThey put me on the pill too but the first pill i took made me feel terrible.. sick.. dizzy.. weak and then i vomited so had to give up on it. I think them putting yo on the pill might be a way to keep you quiet for a little longer lol. I personally dont see how putting more hormones in your body can solve the problems with the ones that are already there..
they insist it works though. In the end im just getting mine out as i cant take these symptoms anymore.
i really hope yours sorts itself out for you!Good luck!
Hiya,
Since i was asked to update you on my appointments i thought i would tell you that i have had my implant removed this morning. Wasnt as bad as i thought but i did get two waves of nausea/dizzyness as the nurse was snipping her way into my arm but no soreness as of yet. Have felt a little sick since though but that might just be my anxiety.
Problem is, now ive had it out im lost! I am considering a fertility monitoring computer though. But apparently the failiure rates for using periodical abstinence or charting is around 25%?!?!? NOT what i had in mind!! So now im a little bit lost again. I have no idea what im going to do. I will keep looking and will hopefully find something. I really dont want anything hormonal/anything thats 'inserted'. Maybe that will end up being my only option![]()
