If I'm done with my period tomorrow, which will be the tuesday of my "reminder pill" week, and i keep taking the reminder pills, will I ovulate because the reminder pills have no hormones? This was my first month on the pill! Please help I don't really understand how i can't ovulate if my period's done. I know on average a woman doesn't ovulate until 2 weeks after the start of her period, but my regular one before starting the pill came early, meaning i would ovulate earlier. Please help!! I need to know if I'd ovulate.

No, you wouldn't. The birth control pill pack is designed to keep you protected the entire month, even during the inactive pills. Ideally these types of questions should be asked to your doctor before you start the birth control - it should be his/her and your responsibility to cover all bases from the beginning.

If you are on a combination pill, it is meant to stop ovulation, so no, you won't be ovulating. If an egg is not released then of course you cannot get pregnant. As a back-up, the pill also makes the mucus released by the cervix thicker so the sperm cannot get through and thins the lining of the uterus so a fertilized egg has difficulty implanting.

Thanks so much! My doctor prescribed it to me over the phone which i thought was weird, and we're having an appointment to discuss it on June 21st. I needed to find out before then so I don't have to worry. Thanks again for your help!
