If you use birth control pills for more than 2 years there is a high risk of developing Deep vein thrombosis and breast cancer. Those thrombus can obstruct small/narrow arteries including heart and brain. Then you can work out the outcome..

What do you mean by "high," and what are your sources?

Simply not the case, if it came from a blog then the chances of the material being legit is very very slim. The thing with birth control that docs worry about is smoking and if you are over the age of 40. This is because research has noticed an increase the rate of heart attack, stroke, and blood clots due to increased blood pressure. Doctors are trained to ask you if you smoke or have a history of those conditions immediately when the subject of birth control is brought up. There is an altered risk of liver and cervical cancer rates while on the pill but again more notably with smokers. Bunch of other stuff that is written on the boxes, and the piece of paper given when the prescription is filled out. Internet info is full of dis-information fear mongering so tread the waters carefully and stick to legitimate research sites for medical information.
There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.

high means great chance... Refer any pharmacology text book. I never stick with sources like blogs, forums, websites etc.. in internet. I always refer recommended text books for medical students..

I never stick with sources like blogs, forums, websites etc.. in internet. Because their reliability is very very low.I always refer recommended text books for medical students. As you mention age and smoking play a big role here. Some doctors use oral contraceptives as a treatment of osteoporosis. Those patients also more prone to develop deep vein thrombosis. As you mention doctors worry about heart attacks, stroke, high BP, because one reason is this.

Well in reality, that's not true.

People's cases are the source of information that text books work on..

    That comes from forums... blogs.

    Websites, are advertising mostly..

Smoking does play a big role but having said that, I've been on the pill since 16, I am 47, I smoke, and I've been off the pill for 6 months.. I don't have deep vein thrombosis so I am what an exception?

Stroke, heart attacks can also be caused by bad eating, fat.. They can be caused by stress.

The bottom line is you should not smoke whilst on the pill and more so more dangerous, as you get older.

But, you need to ascertain and understand where the "text books for medical students" gain their information from.. Real life.

YES.They gain information from real life. That's why they put it there...

Nature made her Children (animals including Human) perfectly. Natural way is the best way that someone can have. It is also same for the woman's sexual changes. If someone try to change it, you are going to change the best way. One can think "I did it" , but he/she can't never complete it. People can't change the law of nature.

    Pethrum.

Nature, natural ways, are the best without a doubt. Chemicals can harm us without a doubt. Safety is better is it not? Than having none.

And, it sounds to me that you are anti birth control... So this is thoughts not a thread persay where people can answer a question.
