Last December, I quit taking birth control after being on it for six years. I didn't get my period again until May, and then I didn't get one after that until July. Now it's almost October, and I still haven't had another period. I read that your cycle takes awhile to go back to "normal" after quitting birth control, but is it unusual at all that I've only had two periods in the last nine months? And if I'm supposed to be pretty irregular even nine months after quitting it, should my periods at least be getting more regular as time goes by? (Between May and July it was about two months exactly, now it's been two and a half.) My hormones have been really out of whack the past month or so, and I'm not sure if it's related--but I am getting concerned about my cycles and I'm wondering if it's abnormal or not.
If I were you I would see your doctor. It sounds to me that your body hasn't started to ovulate correctly on its own. A doctor can prescribe sometime to help your body get back into the groove. It doesn't sound completely abnormal because it's expected, but it shouldn't last more than 3 months. Your body probably hasn't adjusted to it yet after being on it for 6 years. Just call your doctor. They may be able to rev your system.
As far as the moodiness goes, I had the same problem. High anxiety actually. It wasn't going away and I was afraid I'd ruin relationships, so I got on a low-dose antidepressant. It's helped me a lot, but I am hoping I can ween myself off within 6 months. Hope some of this boring story helped!
