I went off and got depression, extreme anxiety, bloating, acne, urinary tract infection, bleeding after sex, and spotting.
I was on the pill for 13 years and stopped taking it in Feb 2010. It has been 7 months and these are the symptoms I have been experiencing:
I haven’t had a period since July (3 months late)
Periodic spotting
Bleeding after intercourse
Extreme fatigue
Frequent Urination
Urinary tract infection
Acne
Greasy Hair
Allergies
bloating
Depression
Anxiety
Dizziness
Restlessness
Headaches
Weight gain
Nausea (that’s new)
I have been to planned parenthood and they have run several tests (Stds, thyroid issues, bacteria cultures) which have all been negative. They are now going to check for more serious issues such as cervical cancer & polyps / fibroids. I am in good shape, exercise regularly and eat well. I am beginning to believe these symptoms are related to hormone imbalance from going off the pill. My symptoms appear to be getting worse as I progress and would love to hear of other people’s similar stories…
Thanks!

thanks for replying.. how long until you got back to normal again?
Well I got my period as I normally would, but I started a low dose antidepressant because of my anxiety. That's helped a lot and i hope I only need to be on it 6 months max. Everything else went back to normal after my first cycle.
If you still don't get your period this next time around I would contact your doctor, because they may need to "jump start" your obvulation. Sometimes it needs a little push to get your body producing horomones again. I wouldnt wait any longer for it to come.
I'm stumped by this because after 7 mths your hormones should've already been balanced back to norm, unless the pills did more damage than you realize. Normally I hear quite the opposite. I felt amazing after going off the pill. PErhaps your test results will show you the answer. Hope you get better, the symptoms sound very unpleasant. Let us know what you find out.
I have been on the *Removed outbound link* for around 9 years and when I stopped, I was experiencing a couple of the same symptoms. I think that it has to do with the fact that we have been on them for such a long time that our bodies got used to it and were facing different side effects because we stopped.

Hello,
I'm curious about the effects of long term birth control use. Have you have bad symptoms when you were on the pill? Do you exercise and eat healthy and still do not feel better?
