Spotting on the Depo Injection

Hi,

I've been on the depo injection for a year now. I know it can cause spotting and it did when I first started on it. However for the past 7 or so months I haven't suffered from any bleeding, other then after sex but the nurse has told me that's nothing to worry about after doing some tests. However, the past couple of days I have been bleeding slightly. It's on and off and is just enough blood to mark my knickers. Its red (I've done a bit of research on-line and all I've seen is people moaning about brown blood)

Does anyone know if this is normal or if it's something to worry about?

Well I'm due my next injection on the 11th November, so I'm going to ask the nurse then. I might have to come off it anyway, while doing my research I've read a lot about it causing problems with your bones and my nanna has just been diagnosed with a thinning bones so they might suggest I don't take it anymore. I have no idea what form of contraception I'd use instead, I'm rubbish at remembering to take pills and the other types such as implant and coil scare me to death

yeah definitely ask about it. I was on the Depo shot before and never experienced that... however it did make me gain a lot of weight.

I was on Depo for 5 years, and you are only supposed to be on it for 2 years. I would spot brown blood and/or not have a period at all. it was kind of nice actually. The sad thing is that I got osteoporosis from using it for too long. Some doctors dont warn you and others do. I guess two years on and 1 or 2 years off is ideal for preventing osteoporosis. My doctor who recommended this regime was the one who recommended the bone scan. I was 23 when I was diagnosed. Its bad stuff. Plus it made me gain 10 lbs within 3 mo. period when I started it.

Yeah, not much I can do until then anyway. I'm having a bit more trouble lately actually-cramps (which I've never suffered while on the injection before) and getting pains in my legs (thinking its bad circulation) I'm guessing most of this is not related to the injection at all as I've been fine on it up until now. I'll just keep an eye on myself and speak to the nurse in November or before if things get worse.
