    Hi,

So I FINALLY stopped my breakthrough bleeding/spotting after 16 days while i have been taking my inactive placebo pills. I am thinking i stopped bleeding because i have been taking my inactive pills. I dont want to have break through bleeding again so I am thinking about just stopping my birth control pills overall. Will this cause spotting again even though im not on the pill? and if i do continue to take my bc pills, will i start spotting again??

    HELP!

We don't know. You might call your doctor's office and talk with the nurse practicioner.

Breakthrough bleeding can occur upwards of 6 months when you start taking it. The inactive pill is supposed to give you your period so no need to worry about bleeding during that time. Its one of those things you cannot control. I had no spotting or breakthrough bleeding, or not that I remember, when I was on Tri Cylcen for a year and now I am on Alesse and the same no spotting/bleeding when I was on the active pills. It is different with every woman and it can be fixed by just finding the right brand for you. You did not mention if this is the first time you have been taking birth control but if you did just start then I would give it a couple months to see if your body works itself out before jumping the gun and stop taking them altogether.

When I stopped I spotted a little bit until I got my period. Little light pink, but mostly brown. It's a change in hormones that causes it in the first place. If you have breakthrough bleeding with this pill, maybe you can try a different one. Maybe one not so- low dose
