Default Missed a single pill, now what?

    Hi there,

I have a question and need some advice as to what I / we should do.

My girlfriend has been on the pill for 3 or 4 months now, and everything was going really well.
Then Saturday (or possibly Sunday, more likely Saturday) she forgot to take her pill. Got really busy and just completely forgot. This is the first time it has happened. She continued taking it since and only noticed on Tuesday night that she had missed one sometime.

We were unsure as to what we should do so we just kept on taking them as per usual (as if we hadn't missed). We have been safe since Saturday so are not worried about her getting pregnant as things are looking (thankfully) although now we are uncertain as to what we should do.

She was a week away or so from starting her placebo's. She ended up getting her period on Monday when it should have been early next week sometime (so a week early basically). The previous month it was on time according to the placebo's so we are assuming the early period is due to her forgetting to take one of the pills.

Now what should we do? Should we continue with the current pack, should we skip one of the placebo's and take the pill she missed then inplace of the placebo?
Should we start a new pack? Just continue this pack as if she hadn't missed a pill? What is recommended and the safest route?

Also depending on what we do, when should it be safe to have intercourse again?

If someone has been in a similar situation or can advise us on what to do I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks you!

Quick note. Just to clear things up.
She forgot to take her pill on Saturday and from Sunday onwards started taking her pill as if she had not forgotten one. So we did not take both at once when she remembered or anything of that sort.
Friday she took it, Saturday she forgot it, Sunday she took the pill but was one pill behind in her packet and only noticed on Tuesday.

I didn't see an edit button, hence this post.

Usually if you miss one, then the next day you take two and continue on like normal. This is a bit different. My best advice is to have her call her doctor. All she has to do is call and tell them what she's done and ask what she needs to do. Most likely they'll tell her to use extra protection (i.e. condoms) until she's through her next cycle.

    "Be what you're looking for."

"The next time you're thinking of kicking someone when they're down, offer them your hand and help them back up instead."

When you say her next cycle, do you mean by the time we start the new box?

Yes, after she has her next period and starts a new pack. However, I'm no doctor. She needs to call and talk with her dr or the nurse.
