Hello, I have been having a slight problem... My husband and I decided that we wanted to have a baby a few months ago and so I stopped my birth control in August after my last sugar pills. I calculated when I was ovulating by using a calendar as well as listening to my body (it's easy for me to tell when I am). We did everything like normal, knowing I was ovulating, and about 4 days later I noticed very light spotting when I went to the bathroom. The next 3 days it was brownish discharge. 2 weeks later on September 28th, I started my period which was definitely regular. My next period was supposed to start last week between the 25th and 27th...but I am late. I have taken HPT after HPT and all have been negative. I have been having awful lower back aches for the past week and a half, the week before my period was supposed to start I had constipation (which is WEIRD before my period, usually it's the opposite!), I also had heartburn for 2 days and have off and on nausea and sensitivity to smells. My breasts are slightly tender to touch. I am so confused and would like to know if the delay in my period is because of pregnancy or because of stopping birth control?? PLEASE HELP!

It could be either. Your hormones could just be adjusting yet, but by now they should be back on track. You've listed some very common pregnancy symptoms, so if I were you, wait another week and take another HPT. if it comes back negative, contact your doctor for a check up.

If you have just come off the pill it can take some time for your body to adjust. I recently stopped taking the pill and i havent had a period in nearly 3 months now.

Sometimes you will experience pregnancy like symptoms after stopping the pill but that is only for a short period of time, however it can be different for everyone.

Just keep trying! be mindful your body still needs to adjust

    Good luck!

My doctor put me on the pill because of horrible period pain, but I had to stop taking it after 5 months, the side effects were a real problem for my body so the doctor told me to stop taking the pill anymore. I am 30 years old and have never taken contraceptives before; this was the first and last time; it has been now 7 months since i am no longer on the pill and my period still hasn’t come back, I have just a very light spotting which I cannot call period, please girls if any of you has experienced this, I just want my normal period to come back, it wasn’t light or heavy before being on the pill, it was normal flow, and I just want it back; since I have no period anymore, I feel headaches and very fainted with no strength in my body; I just want to know why my period stopped completely since I started the pill and why it hasn’t come back even now after 7 months from stopping taking the pill; I need an urgent response, what are these contraceptive pills doing to my body? Had I known, I would have never taken the pill from the beginning. In 4 days time I have an appointment with a gynecologist, I want an explanation from them.

Before taking the pills, I was just fine
