taking the pill for the first time - help please

Hi all i need some help about the pill.

I got a prescription for it and all that and the doc said to take the my first pill on the first day of my period for it to be effective asap. Now that i understand, but do i take a "normal" pill or one of the sugar pills?!
Because from wot i know the sugar pills are a estimate time u have ur period, therefore u take them when ur on it, but for the first time i take a pill (and it will be on my period) do i take the sugar pills or the other ones?

Start with the first "active" (or normal as you put it) pill on the first day of your period. Once you get through the active pills and start to take the sugar pills, you should get your period. Keep in mind though, your period may be irregular as your body gets adjusted to the hormones. Also- you may not get your period until the 2nd or 3rd day of taking the sugar pills, so don't freak out right away.

If you are still confused, there should be directions in a little pamplet that came with your prescription.
