    Hi Guys.

I am on the contreceptive pill the last 6 years however I think it does affect my libido. When I am on it I NEVER want to have sex with my partner but when Im off it my sex drive always increases.
Is there any connection or does anyone ever experience the same??

Yes, there is a connection. That is one of the most common side effects of the pill. It's unfortunate because being on the pill gives you freedom to be spontaneous, but without a sex drive, what good is it! You can talk to your doctor about switching maybe, but I am not sure what good that would do.

It is a very common side affect when taking any hormone based contraceptive. I have personally had problems with this myself.

There are also Non- hormonal birth control options. For example, Paragard is a copper IUD. it is hormone free and just as effective as the pill, but you dont have to remember to take something every day and it lasts up to 10-12 years. The day you take it out, you can have babies. Also- the day you put it in, it's effective immediately.

You can learn all about it on the planned parenthood website.
