    Default Chances of getting pregnant?

I have been taking birth control consistently for quite a while now. I am currently taking amoxicillin and have been on it since tues. It says on the bottle that the effectiveness of birth control may be altered while on certain meds. Me and my boyfriend have had sex twice since i've been on it and haven't used a condom. What are the chances of me becoming pregnant?

    I'm just curious.

You should definitely be using a condom while you are on them. And probably for a week or so after you are done taking them.
No one can tell for sure, depends on any number of things but it is a fact that antibiotics reduce the effectiveness of birth control. Better safe than sorry.

I've known several people who got pregnant whiel on birth control and taking antibiotics. A woman should always do her research on ANY medicine you take and how it could affect your bc. That includes asking your doctor, reading your prescription, and looking up info online.

My doctor always told me that if I took antibiotic during a pack, then I should use protection at LEAST until I start my new pack and if I wanted to be extra cautious, use protection for a full cycle after going off the antibiotic.

So what are your chances? I don't know statistically what your chances are, but I've seen it happen to friends and heard of it happening to many......so if you're having unprotected sex while on BC and antibiotic, you are not protected from pregnancy.

Thank you both for your reply.
I guess I will just have to wait and see. since it has been too long for me to take a plan B.

Another question. If I'm supposed to be on my period this week (usually start around tues-wed) would I not have my period this soon if I "am" pregnant?

You wouldn't, more than likely, get your period if you were pregnant. HOWEVER, some women, do have a period while pregnant, if even for the first couple of months. If you haven't started by this weekend, I'd go ahead and take a test, heck, I'd probably take a test this weekend anyways.

However, if you were this close to your period, you more than likely wouldn't have been ovulating last week, so hopefully you are safe. Just remember, like BD said, use protection until you start your new pack and possibly a couple of weeks after (just to be safe).
