So I have been on birth control for about 8 months and last month I just switched bc brands. I went from Femcon Fe to loestrin generic (junel Fe). But my question is somewhat a general question, about how long of a time period do I have to take my pill before it's considered missed? I don't really need it for the birth control part (more for the period aspect although my bf and I have had sex only a couple times in the last few months) but I want to stay as regular as possible. I usually take my bc around 11pm but last night I forgot and took it this morning at 8:30. I am just curious as to how many hours I have to take it without it being "missed". Thank you!
Taking a pill within +/- 3 hours of the regular time is considered the time to keep things regular. After that it is considered lowering the effectiveness as the pill always needs to be taken again at that specific time to keep a constant level of bc in the body. There is no real missing it unless you totally forget to take it like you did, which is why the box states take it as soon as you remember that you forgot it.
There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.
