My new pill is making me break out horribly!
My doctor gave me Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo last month. This is my 3rd type of hormonal birth control that I'm trying out... I was previously on Alesse and the Nuva Ring, and both of them gave me problems with vaginal dryness.
So right after I start taking Tri Cyclen Lo, my face starts breaking out with the kind of pimples I haven't had in years. I was on Accutane a few years ago and I've been using Differin gel for a long time now, so my face was pretty clear aside from a couple of pimples I would get monthly, right before my period. My doctor told me that Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo would clear up my face even more, but my skin has been reacting horribly for the entire first month!
I look disgusting and I don't even feel like going out in public anymore. My doctor had told me to take this pill for 3 months but I don't think I can take much more of this. Should I just stop taking it?

I'm having the exact same problem!! I've been taking Alesse. I've never had pimples like this, it's horrible
Bumping up...can anyone help? Or recommend a product that doesn't make you break out?
Thanks!

Hey there,
I am now 17 and graduating high school. I have been on birth control since I was 14 (the year I started high school), not to prevent pregnancy but to ease the pain of my menstrual cramps and clear my skin. I had been on Diane -35 for the longest time, and it seemed to help quite a lot.
Last summer I thought of changing brands just so that I wouldn't be on Diane for too long, so my Dr. let me switch - she prescribed Tricyclen lo. At first I thought it was working fine, if not better than Diane -35, then after a few months my acne flared up like crazy to the point where I was crying all the time and I wouldn't leave the house.
I am almost positive it was the Tri-lo, because once I got back onto Diane -35, the breakouts ended.
I recently saw a Dermatologist about this and she prescribed me Clindoxyl, a 5 % benzoyl peroxide gel, and after EVERYTHING that I've tried I can tell you anything with BP is the way to go if you want to treat acne. She too thought I should get off Diane -35 (even though it works) simply because of blood clot risks and given the time I had been on it.
Tomorow I am to start my first pack of Yasmin -21...I hope it dosen't do what Tri-Lo did to me! If it does, I will go straight back to Diane -35, and that's what I would suggest you all to do
