I've been on the birth control Junel Fe 1/50 for about 4 months, my last period was October 19 ...Could it possibly be failing because I'm on a prescription medication? This week I've been having light spotting and cramping.
Is the prescription medicine an antibiotic? If so, most antibiotics counteract birth control, which means you can be taking the pill and if you're also taking antibiotic you may ovulate.
HOWEVER, I have never taken Junel FE but it is a generic form of Loestrin 24 FE which I have taken. One of the most common things I found associated with that pill was lack of periods. But for me, it wasn't just like "whoo hoo I get to not have a period", I still had the symptoms every month, the bloating, cramping, spotting, breakouts, mood swings... but then no period so it seemed I never really got relief. And, I was having to go out almost monthly and buy a pregnancy test "just in case". 6 months of this pill was all I could take. I also experienced a LOT of hair loss while taking it. And it made me an emotional moody nutcase.![]()
If you're not pregnant, and you're worried about the lack of period, you can always call your doctor (which I'm sure will tell you it's totally normal on this pill). It will be your decision whether or not you want to deal with the side effects.
