Tubes getting Tied

I'm not sure if I'm putting this in the right spot or not.

I'm curious if anyone has had their tubes tied and had side effects? I heard some woman have worst periods than they did before having it done.

I plan on getting my tied during my up coming c-section and just seeing what everyone else's experience has been.

I got mine done Feb 2009 and have not had one single problem whatsoever.

I'd do it again if I had to.

My periods have actually been lighter and more regular since my tubal. My PMS is a bit worse, but I don't believe it to be related to the tubal, but rather something else that I've been dealing with.

For me, it was and has been a completely 100% positive experience.

I had mine done right after my 3rd C-section. I did not experience any difficulties or change in periods. I always had a heavy "flo"...
And like LB it was a positive experience for me.

I had mine tied in 97' and it was the best decision I ever made. I had to fight and argue with the doctors to get them to do it... (because of my age and only having one child) but I FINALLY convinced them and my body was grateful. From taking the pill I was carrying around 50 lbs. I couldn't lose no matter how hard I tried. Within 3 weeks of my tubes being tied I lost 28 lbs. without even trying and the other 12 lbs. was gone within the following 2 weeks. My periods didn't really seem to change, the only thing that changed was I no longer had the pills to let me know when it was going to be that time of the month.

Just a thought... don't know if your doctor could or would do this proceedure but.... a few years ago I had fibroid tumors and my period were extremely heavy and painful (that's how they discovered them) Anyway I had surgery done and the doctor suggested that while he was removing the fibroid tumors he can do a proceedure called a NOVASURE. Normally you don't have to be knocked out to get the Novasure done (google it, it's something with soundwaves etc... I was knocked out so I am not sure except for what I read about it over a year ago) Anyway... the proceedure shouldn't cost much and since the Doctor is there anyway....
What the Novasure does is it eliminates your period completely. It's wonderful, I am so HAPPY that I had it done. Typically the only ways to get rid of that monthly visitor is pregnancy, hysteroectomy, menopause, or death. Some months I have a little bit of cramping like I would have right before my period started... and I have the chocolate cravings but no period. It's wonderful and I highly recommend it. They won't do it if you plan on having more kids but since you are getting a tubal ligation done, that isn't an issue. It's well worth reading about it and discussing it with your doctor.

Some women do experience negative side effects after having a tubal ligation. From what I've read it is possible that the blood flow/supply to the ovaries can be restricted or cut off during the procedure. If this happens a woman will experience symptoms common to surgical menopause. Here are a few common complaints:

- Irregular/Abnormal uterine bleeding
- Abdominal/Pelvic pain
- Fibroids
- Cysts
- Hot flashes, night sweats, moodiness, depression, chills

Most doctors' do not or will not recognize these symptoms as being associated with a post tubal ligation, but for many women it is very real. Continue to do your research and make an informed decision.
