I've been on seasonique for about 2.5 years and I've loved not having my period every month, but I do have some recent concerns. Please help me if you can.
My question concerning seasonique was about four things: decreased libido, excessive bleeding during sex, vaginal dryness, and hair loss. I'm not sure if the libido is because I'm just different than how I was when i was 17 (21 now), or if it is a side effect of seasonique. It has begun to affect my relationship with my boyfriend of 4 years. I have never been able to orgasm during sex, so that might contribute?
Also, during sex I experience excessive bleeding and irritation regardless of how much lube we use. This did not occur when I was not on the pill. I'm also on allegra 180, an antihistamine, which I have heard can cause vaginal dryness, but I am wondering if seasonique can add to the bleeding and discomfort during and after sex. I think the discomfort may be causing me to not want to have sex. I asked my gyno about this last time I visited and she said that swelling of the cervix because of bc may cause this. She that said as I got older it would improve. It has actually become much worse since then.
Hair loss is my last worry. I searched today and there was one forum that had several women post about alopecia while using seasonique. I can't find anything on the seasonique website about this, and it was just one note on the info packet that comes with the bc. I have noticed that I my hair is thinner and a lot comes out in the brush. This may be because of the terrible water here, because my hair gets tangled often and requires harsh brushing, or other reasons. I just wanted to see if anyone else suffered this way in case I should be concerned.
I LOVE seasonique, not having a period every month has been a life-changing experience for me, because I use to have terrible periods that were not controllable with other birth control methods. However, I am willing to consider trying a different bc method if anyone has any imput on some of my questions. My sex life is terrible right now, and I want to make sure it's not my bc.
