Ok, so. I'm 16 years old, turning 17 in a month and a bit. And just starting getting on long term birth control methods. I started on the pill a little while ago but forgot it a few times.. My doctor suggested I get the Implanon implanted.
It sounded pretty good to me and now i have an appointment booked for tomorrow arvo to get it implanted. But now i'm starting to freak out.. I'm reading all these things about crazy irregular bleeding and HAIR LOSS and most of the people i have talked to are really against getting it and tell me not to. Now I'm now having major second thoughts, and beggining to think i should stay with the pill and concentrate a little more on remembering it..
What i'm asking for is for an experienced person's opinion? Someone who has had it before and can share the up's and down's? OR if you know someone who has had it and had problems with it.
I'm a little desperate for the info because the appointment is tomorrow... So please help if you can![]()
All those risks could happen. For most they don't but those people have less reason to come on a forum or website like this and speak out about it so you will hear more of the negative side online. It depends if you think the risk is worth the potential benefits. If not there other options. You can get deprovera which is a shot you only need 4 times a year. There are also patches, ortho evra that you replace weekly and nuvarings which you take out for 1 week every 3 weeks before putting in a new one. Plenty of options in between pills and IUDs if you find barrier methods like condoms are not for you.
