I was on the pill but was always forgetting to take it, so I'm not using the Implanon implant in my arm.

It last for 3 years, my periods were irregular at first but after a year they stopped altogether which is normal.

The irregular periods at first is the only thing I can complain about. I use to get heavy painful periods, so it's a relief from them

I use the copper IUD because I couldn't find a pill that didn't give me icky, hormonal side effects. So far, I love it!

I've used Lo Ogesterol, Yaz, Ortho tri-cycline low and one other kind that I can't remember. I used to LOVE the pill because it'd regulate my periods (or quite them almost all together) I was pretty good about taking them, but if I missed a day or two it didn't matter too much, ha, then I had sex & thought I was prego... No prego, but I'm switching to Implanon on Tuesday...like said before it lasts 3 years.. I'll let you know what I think about it after I have it put in.

I used to be on the pill and unfortunately I was one of the rare few who had a severely decreased sex drive while on it.

I was offered paragard but I've heard too many bad things about it and the risks of possibly being unable to conceieve afterwards, however small, are too great since I do not have kids yet.

My fiance and I both hate condoms and haven't used them since we moved in together, and right now we just use the pull-out method. It's been more than a year and it's still working good.

No I don't think it's just "luck" either. It has everything to do with how long since your last ejaculation, having a pee beforehand, and KNOWING for sure when to pull out.

Occasionally when we don't want to use the pullout method, we will use spermicide suppositories. They seem to work very good too. Surprisingly though, spermicide has a higher fail rate than the pull-out method if done correctly.

My doctor put me on the pill because of horrible period pain, but I had to stop taking it after 5 months, the side effects were a real problem for my body so the doctor told me to stop taking the pill anymore. I am 30 years old and have never taken contraceptives before; this was the first and last time; it has been now 7 months since i am no longer on the pill and my period still hasn’t come back, I have just a very light spotting which I cannot call period, please girls if any of you has experienced this, I just want my normal period to come back, it wasn’t light or heavy before being on the pill, it was normal flow, and I just want it back; since I have no period anymore, I feel headaches and very fainted with no strength in my body; I just want to know why my period stopped completely since I started the pill and why it hasn’t come back even now after 7 months from stopping taking the pill; I need an urgent response, what are these contraceptive pills doing to my body? Had I known, I would have never taken the pill from the beginning. In 4 days time I have an appointment with a gynecologist, I want an explanation from them.

Before taking the pills, I was just fine

FAM and Condoms currently....and plan to use FAM and Diaphragm in the future.

    -JustJess,

I had taken birth control for 11 years without a single incident. I loved it. I would NOT recommend relying solely on condoms. They are somewhere between 85-895% effective and for me, that was too risky. If you are planning on having sex with any consistency, I would take the pill. Regarding which pill, I switched around based on what was cheapest and available since my insurance didn't cover any of it. I was on Ortho-tri Cylcin, then Ortho-tri Cyclin lo, then Trisprintec (generic). I personally didn't gain any weight with it or have any side effects, but some people do. Your periods will lighten up, and your skin clears up. Win win!
