I was put on the depo shot about 2 months ago and I have NOT had a period since then. However, l have been on my period (not a healthy period) for about 2 weeks now and I'm not sure whats going on. I am sexually active and I completely forgot that antibiotics messed with birth control. Is that the cause of my issue or should I be worried about something more serious?

It's common for depo to cause you to stop having a period. I've heard of some women who stopped having theirs all together, and others who wouldn't have one for months then have one really heavy long one for a couple weeks. Antibiotic definitely counteracts bc, so that could have caused some disruption. If it continues you'll probably want to talk to your doctor.

Depo is known to cause some women non-permanent fertility issues lasting 1-2 years. When you get close to the time to start thinking about children, you'll want to get off depo at least a year in advance just in case.
