Hi! This is my first post on here, but there's no way that I'm the only one experiencing problems with my past birth controls. I started taking bc when I was 16 because of my irregular periods (I had 2 periods a month, each would last about three days. the second one was always heavier and full of intense cramping, and when I say intense, I mean feeling like there's something inside of me trying to cut its way out with a dull knife). Here's a brief history of my bc usage:
First I was on provera for about a year, this worked fine but it was prescribed to me by my obgyn in Czech.
Second, I was prescribed Ocella by my american obgyn which worked well for about three months, then made me gain weight like crazy (about 30 lbs in 2 months)... I stopped taking it, and lost most of it within the first month.
*I decided to be off of a bc for about a year because I was so fearful of gaining weight again.
Then my third and most recent birth control was Trinessa which made me so emotional I could barely stand it. I also noticed that my hair fell out like crazy when I was on it.
I'm returning to my obgyn this week to try and get a new script... I mostly wanted to get some suggestions from ladies who have had similar problems as I have in the past, and if there were any alternatives that have worked for you? My skin's not too bad, but I definitely like how my previous bc's have helped clear it completely. I have had an eating disorder in the past, so I'd prefer a bc that wouldn't make me gain weight. The most important to me would definitely be not having the side effect of insane mood swings.
I appreciate any help given! Surely there can be something that would work for me!
Thanks!
You may want to try a low dose one. Sometimes you just have to keep switching them up until you find one that agrees with you. I did, until I finally settled on one called Nordette. It was by far the best out of all the ones I tried.
