Hello I need some help trying to understand this. I dont think its normal but im not to sure.

I got my paragard in 2002 after I gave birth to my daughter and have not had any issues what so ever with it. I loved it!!!!! However, I had it removed January 26th 2011 on the second day of my period. (started jan 25 normal 7 days). I bleed 9 days in january due to removal.

As of Feb 25 I noticed it has not been normal. It has been really really light like brownish colored and little to no red blood at times. (Im a heavy bleeder and they always last 7 days full blown. It was also normal and didnt change at all when I got the IUD) During removal I was told nothing would change and since I always been regular I should have no issues what so ever.

This is what it has been like for me as of removal
Jan 2011= removal the 26th everything normal 7 days plus 2 extra due to removal
Feb 2011= 25th started period- really light and brown with a little little amount of blood.
Mar 2011=25th started period- really light and brown with little little to no bleeding
April2011=22nd started period-no blood only brownish colored NO BLEEDING

When i say little bleeding i mean i could use one tampon for the whole week but that is just gross. Some days i wouldnt bleed at all and others just the brownish colored stuff since removal.

Its hard to say how many days i had my period in the month because somedays i would have something others nothing. none lasted more then 7 days i know forsure. April it was a flat 4 days.

Can someone please tell me WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON AND IS THIS NORMAL????????? ALL PREGO TEST ARE NEGATIVE

    Does anyone know why

I guess what im asking is why since removal do i start my periods on time but have the brown discharge and not a heavy flow like i always have? In April i had no red blood and stopped everything after just 4 days. I always been heavy before my IUD and when I had it in. The brown is not just at the beginning of my period but all during the 7 days as well. Its not alot eaither just dont make since.

Can someone please help me understand this or have you had the same issues? Its non hormonal so I dont get it!!!

Our menstrual flow can change drastically over the years, especially after big changes like having children (or diet, or exercise, the list could go on). If you had never had the paraguard, you may have noticed a gradual decrease in flow during the past few years and ended up in this same situation anyway. It's possible that having the paraguard has just postponed your natural menstrual changes.

Have you taken a pregnancy test? If you're not pregnant, then I wouldn't worry about this very light flow. For some women this is normal and has always been the case.

I noticed your comment about tampons - in ANY case I hope you don't leave any tampon in for longer than 8 hours, as afterwards there can be an increased risk of toxic shock syndrome. Rare, but I wouldn't take any chances.
