    Default Loestrin Pill

I've taken the Loestrin pill 3 packs in a row without a break. My last pill of pack 3 is tomorrow. The reason for this is because I have Von Willebrands disease and therefore am a heavy bleeder, and because of exams and what not i wanted to avoid the stress...

However, now i think i have made things worse for myself. I have read that Loestrin when you first start taking it (those first 3 packs being my first ever Loestrin) it can make you bleed for far longer than a week, possibly up to a month.

In the next couple of weeks it is my birthday, i am going to a festival and am travelling a lot and i'm terrified im going to be heavy bleeding throughout all of it as i am already breakthrough bleeding now and I cannot possibly take another pack.

    Any advice?

    Thanks,
    Addie.

How long have you been breakthrough bleeding? Is it always heavy? Are your periods on these packs heavy too?

After three packs, things should be under control...you might want to consider trying something else. Call your gyno (or whoever gave you your pill) and tell them your frustrations. They should be able to help a lot.

Breakthrough bleeding occurred a little bit through the second pack, and again at the end of the 3rd pack quite heavily so im assuming straight into my period (im on my 7 day break now).
My blood condition generally makes me bleed heavier than normal, and thats why i was recommended Loestrin. I don't seem too heavy right now, I'm just worried it wont stop by the time I start the new pack after the 7 days and will carry on. Just wondered if there was anything that helps or if you just have to hope for the best really!

    Thanks alot!

I think you just have to hope for the best. Who knows how the birth control hormones will react with your pre-existing blood condition? breakthrough bleeding is normal, even when it's like the flow of a regular period.

I understand why they'd recommend loestrin to someone with heavy periods bc they did the same for me since it promises "shorter lighter periods." However, my periods stopped being light as my body adjusted to the pill over the last two years and it's a lower dosage anyways. It may not be a strong enough pill to control your bleeding.
