Im 17 years old and I got my first depo shot earlier this month and it was not given to me while I was on my period. Every since I got the shot I have all the symptoms of a pregnant woman. I have not had sex since the shot, but I did have protected sex last month a couple times, but I wasnt on the depo then. Does any one else have major headaches, nosebleeds, nausea, facial breakouts, cravings and minor cramping? I guess Im just worried I may have already been pregnant before I was given the shot, because I am over two weeks late for my period now.
Go to your local drug store and buy a pregnancy test. Carefully follow the instructions on the packet. That will give you your answer - those home tests are very accurate these days. Take two if you want to make sure. Or take the second one at a local clinic. It won't be expensive because a nurse will be able to do it without the assistance of a doctor.
There's no way to tell whether or not your symptoms are from the depo shot or from something else. In my opinion it's more likely that the shot is responsible for this. I have yet to hear one good story related to the depo!
But take that test to be sure. And if you're not pregnant, and your side effects persist over the next few months, you'll know that the shot is not for you.
