So i've been off birth control all together for 2 months now. I originally got off of it back at the beginning of May because my pill was causing me some major dizzy issues, making me call in from work multiple times. My doctor told me to stay off them and try it out to make sure that was the cause and lo and behold it was. I have a new pill ready for me to take but my doc told me to wait till my next period. Needless to say I haven't had a period within those two months, this past week would have been my period week. Should I go ahead and start taking them again or do I absolutely have to wait till my period comes? My mom keeps bugging me about it and I just don't know what to do. I figured maybe someone here could give me a bit of advice on whether to start my new pack possibly tomorrow or just wait until my period comes. Thanks!

You should most definitely wait until your period comes to start a new pack. Even if it'll be a few more weeks yet. You don't want to cause too much further confusion for your body.

In the meantime, stock up on some condoms (and lube if you need to - they dry the heck outta me!) and you'll be fine.

Yea I figured I'd have to wait and it really sucks. Had the new pack for a good month and a half now and I can't start it. Hopefully a few more weeks it'll come again. Condoms dry me out like crazy as well, hate them personally but what can ya do? Thanks

Yep, gotta wait for the period or you'll be in for some rough hormonal rollercoasters. Tell your mom to relax and that he gift wraps his package before giving it to you.

    "Be what you're looking for."

"The next time you're thinking of kicking someone when they're down, offer them your hand and help them back up instead."

The reason doctors say wait till your period is because it makes it so much easier to keep tack of your cycle. If you start your pills now, which you technically could, you could stop the period that could in theory start next week lets say. If lets say your period would start next week and you start the pills now, it will stop the period next week making your actual cycle more prolonged because you would have to wait until you are on the placebo pills in order to get your period. That does not help you any if you are wanting to keep track of your cycles just to see if everything is working as it should, so the doctor simply says "wait until your next period" so that A) they know you are getting your period, and B) making it easier to track as you could literally pinpoint the exact days you will be on your period if you have a regular cycle due to taking birth control pills.

You don't have to wait, I never do since my periods can be unpredictable and I might be waiting 2 months, but weird things can happen while your body tries to figure out what stage of your cycle it's actually in and if you do that it's best not to have sex without condoms until you start your second pack.
