    Default birth control after mini-stroke

I am 32 and recently had a mini-stroke. My physician is relating it to my birth control pills and recommended I make some changes.

My ob/gyn has said my options post mini-stroke are IUD (Mirena or ParaGard), Depo Provera, or the Mini Pill. Has anyone had experience with this situation? If so, what type of birth control are you currently using?

A friend of mine who is a nurse said that if in this situation ParaGard would be her only option due to the fact that it does not contain any hormones. I am terrified from all the horror stories I have read about ParaGard and IUD's in general.....

I haven't had children so I understand an IUD could be painful...

    Any advice?

i had a mini stroke at 18 caused by the pill....
afterwards i got a mirena iud.... i had it replaced after the 5 years last year... ive never had any problems with them (besides one expelled last year.... took a second time) insertion was pretty pain free - uncomfortable but not awful.
let me know if i can help you with anything else
