Thread: Missed Patch

I have been on the Ortho Evra patch with no problems for about 10 months now. 2 weeks ago, my boyfriend proposed and in all the excitement I completely forgot to put on a patch that week. I was due to start week 1 on the Sunday and didnt remember to put it on until the Friday (6 days late). I had unprotected sex 4 or 5 times throughout that week. Is there a chance I could be pregnant? I am now on week 3 and was wondering if its too early for a home pregnancy test?

Theres always a chance you could be preggo even without missing your start date and following birth control 100%. I would never dismiss the chance but it does sound unlikely since it was your 1st week you missed and most woman ovulate in the second week. However, if you had sex towards the end of the unprotected week you could get pregnant. Did you use a back up method once you realized ? Since you were off for almost a full week, you may need to be on it a month to be protected (not positive about that - it could be 7 days).The only way to test now would proably be to get a blood test from a dr. They would be able to tell by your numbers.

I was on the patch for years and when I wanted to get pregnant I did right away, I didnt even know I ovulated !
