i got the paragard copper t iud inserted over a month ago. i was on the birth control pill for about 2 years before i got fed up with the hormones & decided to discontinue taking it. my periods were a little abnormal for about 2 months before insertion (37 days the first cycle & 35 the second . . . which i assume was my body getting back to normal from being on the pill. my periods pre birth control were 30 - 33 days apart).

well i figured since the paragard is non - hormonal my periods would continue to gradually return to normal. however day 33 between cycles (when i estimated i would start) came & no period. a day later i got a clear, sticky, mucousy discharge with a hint of old blood in it, but it came & went within 24 hours. day 36 & 37 between periods, i spotted on and off but not even enough to stain a sanitary pad.

now today, day 38, i have the slightest brown discharge but it is only visable when i wipe, & not how i imagined my first period on paragard to be. i was preparing myself for a crampy, heavy period but this has not been the case for me.

i am aware paragard is 99%+ effective however pregnancy is still in the back of my mind. i have all the typical pms symptoms (cramps, bloating, my face is breaking out, etc.) but have not experienced an actual menstrual period.

i have a doctor's appointment tomorrow morning, but any peace of mind would be appreciated especially from those of you who have used the paragard copper t iud now or in the past. thanks.
