Okay, I had sex last on July 27th and took my last active pill on the 28th.. And I've been on sugar pills for 4 days (I'm on a 24 pack)... But the problem is I had a little trouble getting a refill on my pills.. I won't have anymore unprotected sex until I know I'm safe again.. But I have a few questions:

    1. Since I had sex a day before my last active pill.. I should be safe from pregnancy, right? Like all the semen should be dead before I ovulate again?

    2. I'm getting my new pack either Thurs or Fri.. So should I start again as soon as I get it or should I wait until I have my period then start taking my pills again?

    3. After I start my pills again, I have to have protected sex until I took my pack for 7 days, right?

Semen being dead is not a concern, semen can be dead within hours of ejaculation and sometimes can last a few days if conditions within the vagina are right. You can have a man ejaculate inside you while you are on the pill because it is 98-99.9% effective IF TAKEN EXACTLY AS DIRECTED. Missing one day does not drop your protection rate by an astronomical amount. From 98-99.xx% it may drop to about 95% because missing a pill means the amount in your body has not been topped off and hence it is working off of the other days that were already in your body. If you have taken the pill consistently every day prior and not missed any you will always be at that 98-99.xx% effectiveness. Simply missing one pill or being late one day does not automatically mean you will now become pregnant.

You should ask your doctor or pharmacist.

    3. After I start my pills again, I have to have protected sex until I took my pack for 7 days, right?
Yes for the most part that is a general amount of time that physicians and pharmacists advise patients to have protected sex.
There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.

Thx.. My doc said I should wait until after my cycle starts again.. I was only concerned because I had sex a day before my last pill and I still haven't started my new pack... So I thought that if the semen was still alive from last week and I ovulated.. I would be in trouble... Because I heard that some semen can live up to ten days inside of a woman.. While others said 3-5 days, and others say 7 days.. It was just kind of confusing...
