Went to the doctor Friday July 29 and he put me on Lo Loestrin and he told me to start the pills on Sunday July 31. I did so I've been on the pill for 8 days including the one that I took this morning. They called me on Wednesday and told me to start taking levothyroxine for my low thyroid levels, called them in, I picked them up Thursday and took my first pill Friday morning. I always take my birth control first thing in the morning and didn't even think of the two pills conflicting and taking them at separate times. Should I be taking one in the morning and one at night or does it matter with birth control and thyroid? Will the thyroid cause my birth control to not be as effective if I take them at the same time?
Synthroid (Levothyroxine) is one of the top 5 most prescribed medications by physicians. Being so very common there really is not a whole lot of worry surrounding it, however this is where your pharmacist would come in. Just go to the pharmacy counter and quickly ask them if you should be taking the pills at different times or not. Since it is so common there will be countless millions of women who do take them at the same time, there is no drastic worry about the two pills combined to begin with if there were worry there would be a lot more mentioning of the interaction. I am on Alesse as well as the Levothyroxine and there is no worry about the medications together. Pharmacists are trained to know all the drug interactions, doctor simply prescribe things they are not as aware of the indepth drug material.
There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.
