Hello!

Has anyone here been on the birth control implant - Implanon? I am one of the 20% of women who stopped having a period. I actually stopped having a period while I was on the shot, and then went on Implanon right after and never even spotted in between.

So, I have no had a period in four years. I have been to the gyno for regular check ups every year and they say that it is normal.

BUT, my three years for the Implanon is ending in two weeks, and I have started spotting. At first, I thought I got my period back early, but it is very light and very minimal cramping, not at all like it used to be!

I have a trip planned to visit my family across the country around the same time that I am supposed to start new birth control (pills), so my husband and I were going to use condoms until we got back from vacation, because I didn't want to start trying to remember to take a pill everyday when our schedule is way off. Soo... I don't really want to go to the gyno a month earlier than planned if I don't have to. That is why I am posting here asking if anyone has any information or has been through this before.

Is it normal to start spotting BEFORE the end of birth control after no spotting or period of any kind for the past four years? And is it possible that the birth control ended early and that is why I am spotting?
