Thread: Mirena Side effects!

Hi ladies!! i am very new to this website but i wanted to join and talk to everyone about the Mirena and see what your opinions are on it.
My Story: I have had the Mirena inserted about 2 and 1/2 years ago. I haven't had any problems at all until just the last month. The symptoms were so bizarre that is thought i was pregnant and took a test and that was negative. All out of no where, my breast become swollen and very tender to the touch, spotting/discharge, and mood swings like crazy, and lets not forget the terrible acne. All of these symptoms have just happened over the past 2 weeks mostly. My boyfriend of 2 years is in the Navy and deploys in just a few weeks and he tells me to just have it removed now, but my only hold up is it dont want to end up getting pregnant right before he leaves for 6 months and then he would miss out on all the important dates and appts. So does anyone know if any of this sounds normal or any opinions on what i should do. i go to the doctor friday to talk to the doctor about it also.

If your concern is pregnancy, just wait to have it removed until after he leaves.... My husband deployed for a year with the Army, and so I went off BC about a month after he left. I went back on just before R&R, but chose Implanon so I won't have to worry about it for a few years. We aren't ready for kids at this point anyways. As far as the symptoms go, I don't know what to tell you. I chose Implanon of Mirena because of all the research that I did, and I'm glad I did. I've only been on for one month, and I already am period free, and so far no problems. Good luck, hopefully someone will be able to help you. Hopefully your doctor will be able to figure it out.
