Default Taking the Morning After Pill - What Happens?

I had unprotected sex a couple of weeks ago (it wasn't consentual) and took the morning after pill within the prescribed period of time (the "incident" was on a Saturday night and I took the pill on Tuesday morning). I was expecting alot of blood, but had virtually none. My doctor says that at my age (53) the chances of my getting pregnant are about 0.5%, and taking the morning after pill reduces that to 0.3%, but I remain unconvinced. My periods are all over the place anyway, and I have since had a pregnancy test (negative) but it was only a week after the event. Should I be worried? I'm a stresshead anyway ...

Plan B (levonorgestrel) may prevent pregnancy by temporarily stopping the release of an egg from a woman's ovary, or it may prevent fertilization. It may also prevent a fertilized egg from attaching to the uterus.

I would also be concerned about STD's. Speak with your doctor about getting tested and report this incident as it wasnt consentual.
~Today, any person can fight the battles of one day It is only when you and I add the burdens of those two awful eternity's- yesterday and tomorrow, that we break down. It is not the experience of today that drives people mad. It is the remorse of bitterness for something which happened yesterday and the dread of what tomorrow may bring.
Let us therefore, live but one day at a time.~

The ill isn't exactly like an abortion. I didn't bleed at all with it, and i'm not sure if you are supposed to. What i do know is that my period came 2 weeks early, and my cycles were more messed up than normal for about 4 months. So it's one pill that greatly effects you over a long period of time.
Considering you took it in the right time, though i think within 2 days if the most effective and later on the percentage of effectiveness drops) i think you should be fine. But i second checking for STI's. That is a horrible horrible thing that happened to you and you should definitely report it and make sure you are healthy. People like that make me sick. If you need any help also don't be afraid to seek counseling or visit your local church if you believe.
    ((hugs))

Plan B has a 72 hour window, the sooner you take it the better. It contains several times the dose of one of the chemicals in regular birth control so it will very likely, if not always, throw off your regular cycles for a month or more. It is only to be used in emergency situations such as this. Some women will bleed, some will have breakthrough bleeding for awhile, some will get intense nausea, headaches dizziness, and some will experience a great deal of cramping. It is nothing to use unless you absolutely must.
