I was on Tri Cyclen Lo for about a year, but I eventually stopped taking it because it made me gain weight and I wasn't happy with it. I planned on switching to a new BC but I never did (we just used condoms instead).
I've been off the pill for about 7 months. I'm wondering if I can start taking them again, for 2 weeks only, to stop my period for this month?
The reason is because my fiance is away at Basic Training for the Armed Forces, and I'm going to be visiting him next week for the first time in a LONG time. Of course, this is exactly when my period is scheduled to show up! Is it okay to take Tri Cyclen Lo for 1-2 weeks to stop my period, then stop taking it once our visit is done?
Thanks for any help!
It probably won't work. OTC is a triphasic pill, which is hard to skip periods with even when you're taking it already. You can google "skipping a period with a Triphasic pill" to see the different ways people try to do it, with varying levels of success.
Now, if you had a monophasic pill, it might be another story. Though you would most likely spot considerably throughout the time you're taking it, it would be more effective than trying to use OTC.
